Stopping Beliefs that Stop You - Part 2
As stated in my last post, to stop beliefs that stop you, you need to:
Become aware of the beliefs you hold
Determine whether or not they are serving your truest Sage self
Reframe disempowering beliefs into empowering ones, thereby developing a Positive Mindset to meet all of life’s challenges.
How to Recognize Disempowering Beliefs:
As you think about what you hold to be true, ask yourself
Do you feel stuck in some way?
Does it cause a feeling of contraction rather than a feeling of joy and expansion?
Do you feel like a victim, that things happen to you?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you know that you hold some disempowering beliefs.
The Formula to Change Beliefs:
Know that beliefs can change. For example, I bet you no longer believe that your Christmas presents come from Santa Claus or that the Tooth Fairy leaves you coins under your pillow after losing a tooth.
Know what beliefs you hold that are holding you back from meeting life with a Positive Mindset.
For assistance in discovering dis-empowering beliefs that you may have, click here (link) for my list of the most common negative beliefs.Realize you can change the beliefs you have to create how you want to be, how you want to act, and what you want to have in your life.
Utilize a process taught by Colin Tipping in Radical Forgiveness to:
a. Tell the story
b. Feel the feelings as they arise
c. Collapse the story (bring it back to the original incident)
d. Find what there is to be grateful about within the original incident ; that is how did this present a gift or learning opportunity for you?
e. Reframe the story to realize the gift or learning opportunity within it (the story doesn’t change, but the context or meaning of the story does)
f. Integrate the New Story by only telling yourself your new interpretation of the story
If you need help in doing this process, I’ll be happy to arrange a FREE consultation on this process.
The most important step in developing a positive mindset to meet life’s challenges will be revealed in my next post.
